Numbers are the key to betting on over two and a half goals and the data screams from the rooftops that one should wager on Saturday’s German Bundesliga match between Bremen and Frankfurt going over the most popular goals line.
When Bremen visited Frankfurt for their German Bundesliga game in December it did not take long for the goals to flow, with the score at 1-1 at half time, 2-1 to Frankfurt after 52 minutes and 5-2 to Eintracht when the final whistle went, albeit after a relatively benign last 10 or so minutes. One is expecting another entertaining encounter when Frankfurt visits Bremen because the German Bundesliga statistics of the two teams suggests that they love a festival of goals.
No German Bundesliga side has featured in more high-scoring matches than Frankfurt – 21 of Eintracht’s 30 league games have gone over two and a half goals, including nine out of 15 at home, and they top the over-three-and-a-half-goals chart as well with an overall record of 18-12 and a home record of 8-7. Frankfurt fans who have watched every second of their team’s German Bundesliga games have seen a total of 110 goals at a division-high average of 3.67 per match.
Bremen has almost been as exciting to watch in the German Bundesliga as Frankfurt. Nineteen of Bremen’s 30 German Bundesliga games have gone over two and a half goals, including 11 of its 15 away matches, plus no side can match Werder’s records of nine games exceeding four and a half goals and six games exceeding five and a half goals.
Critics of one’s headline pick may point out that Frankfurt has not scored a German Bundesliga goal for more than 300 minutes but look at the teams against which Eintracht were pitting themselves in their last three matches – Bayern Munchen, Dortmund and Monchengladbach. The bulk of the German Bundesliga data says that Bwin and Ladbrokes can expect to do a large amount of business at their odds of -182 about over two and a half goals at the Weserstadion.
Wolfsburg would love nothing more than to propel Hannover closer to the German Bundesliga trap door and so one likes the idea of backing the Wolves to beat the 96ers in their derby at odds of -227 with WilliamHill.
Hannover appointed Michael Frontzeck as its new manager in time for its German Bundesliga game at Hoffenheim but the new voice in its dressing room did not result in an end to its lengthy run without a top-flight victory that now is 14 matches – the 96ers have drawn six and lost eight since they defeated Augsburg 2-0 at home in the week before Christmas.
Wolfsburg is guaranteed to enter the UEFA Champions League but it needs some more German Bundesliga points to ensure that it gains automatic entry to the lucrative group stage because fourth-placed Leverkusen is just six points behind the Wolves with 12 points up for grabs. With Leverkusen in combat with Bayern Munchen on Saturday, three points for Wolfsburg versus Hannover could all but seal a top-three German Bundesliga finish for the Wolves. That and the opportunity to thrust its Lower Saxony rival deep into German Bundesliga relegation zone should provide ample motivation for Wolfsburg to do the business – the Wolves humiliated Hannover 3-1 in November’s reverse fixture.
Finally, back to over two and a half goals and Saturday’s German Bundesliga game between seventh-placed Hoffenheim and eighth-placed Dortmund, with the high-scoring option listed at odds of -167 with 888Sport and Unibet.
Both Hoffenheim and Dortmund are over-two-and-a-half-goals teams, particularly when one looks at their respective home and away numbers. Nine of Hoffenheim’s 15 German Bundesliga matches have gone over two and a half goals, while 10 of Dortmund’s 15 top-flight games have exceeded that line.
Dortmund edged past Hoffenheim 1-0 in the reverse German Bundesliga fixture but that was back in the days when BVB was a nervous wreck and desperate for points to climb away from the foot of the ladder. The pressure is off Dortmund now and it is possible that BVB may even come from nowhere to qualify for the UEFA Europa League without needing to take out next month’s German DFB Pokal final in Berlin.
