Monday Night Football 3rd December Giants vs Redskins

December 3, 2012

Monday Night Football December 3rd, 2012 TV: 8:30 ESPN

New York Giants at Washington Redskins +3 OvUn 51

The NFC East is again in primetime as Eli Manning takes on RG3 for the second time. These two teams played on October 21st, a 27-23 Giants win. The Redskins had led most of the 2nd half before giving up a late touchdown to Victor Cruz.

The defending champion Giants have been inconsistent this season, but perhaps their bye week two weeks ago has helped straighten out their season and give them some much needed rest. It certainly looked like it last week, as New York blew out the Packers 38-10 on Sunday Night Football. Eli Manning had his best game all season, throwing for over 300 yards, four touchdowns and no picks.

It looks as if the Redskins will be a team to be reckoned with for years to come. After ending their three game slide two weeks ago, Washington beat Dallas on Thanksgiving Day 38-31. Robert Griffin III was spectacular as usual throwing for four touchdowns and 304 yards. The Giants have been especially susceptible to the run, something that Washington does extremely well. They are ranked 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards per game, thanks to the dual headed attack of Robert Griffin III and running back Alfred Morris. They will also have top wide out Pierre Garcon at full strength this week.

The Line

Originally opening at Washington +2.5 the total has moved to +3 mostly everywhere. The total has not moved from the 51 opening number.

The Play

It is hard not to be impressed with the Giants after the thrashing of the Packers last week, fresh off a bye week. But, we cannot ignore that the Redskins match up extremely well against the Giants and run the ball better than most of the NFL. Strong running games have been considerable trouble for the G-men this season, and the Redskins do it better than anyone. On top of that, their passing game has been just as dynamic the past several weeks.

Other than last week, Eli has been highly inconsistent, and when facing a ball control offense like the Redskins, he will need to make his opportunities count. We see a letdown game coming for the Giants after their win against the Pack last week.

We’ll take the Redskins at home plus the points. Redskins +3
