2015/16 NFC West Futures Odds & Predictions

August 3, 2015

The Seattle Seahawks have not only won the NFC West the past two seasons – they’ve also made it to the Super Bowl in both years. The Seahawks are huge favorites to repeat as NFC West Champions, but will they be able to three-peat?

Arizona and San Francisco are both contenders, but the Seahawks are way better on paper again in 2015.

Odds to Win the NFC West in 2015

  • Seattle Seahawks -295
  • Arizona Cardinals +665
  • Louis Rams +825
  • San Francisco 49ers +1325

I’m a little surprised by the 49ers odds, but they did lose a ton of starters and will be relying on youth this season. The Rams aren’t likely to contend in such a tough division and the Cardinals will regress after an excellent 2014.

2015 Seattle Seahawks Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 12-4 (1st in NFC West)

Key Additions: Jimmy Graham, Cary Williams, Will Blackmon & Ahtyba Rubin

Key Losses: Byron Maxwell, Max Unger, Malcolm Smith, James Carpenter, Jeron Johnson & Zach Miller

Regular Season Win Total: Over 11 Wins (-125) vs. Under 11 Wins (+105)

Seattle lost some key pieces on defense, but they replaced most starters they lost during the off-season. Bringing over Graham from the Saints will give Russell Wilson a real weapon in the pass game, which will only help the offense.

Marshawn Lynch is in line for another big season with plenty of touches out of the backfield again. With an improved offense – the defense can regress a bit and the Seahawks will still be the best team in the NFC West.

The Seahawks will win the division and my money is on Seattle winning over 11 games again in 2015.

2015 Arizona Cardinals Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 11-5 (2nd in NFC West)

Key Additions: Mike Lupati, Alfonzo Dennard, Sean Weatherspoon, Cory Peters, Cory Redding & LaMarr Woodley

Key Losses: Dan Williams, Antonio Cromartie, Darnell Dockett, Ted Ginn, Larry Foote, Paul Fanaika & Sam Acho

Regular Season Win Total: Over 8.5 Wins (-105) vs. Under 8.5 Wins (-115)

It’s hard to know what to expect out of Arizona this season due to the number of moves the Cardinals had to make this off-season. Losing Williams, Cromartie and Dockett hurts, but Arizona did a great job replacing this players as well.

If the new-look Cardinals can gel early, this team has a chance to surprise in the division again. However, Arizona relied on a really good defense last year and I expect the defense to regress, which in turn will cause Arizona to struggle.

I’m on the fence with the Cardinals win total, but I lean towards under 8.5 wins in 2015.

2015 San Francisco 49ers Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 8-8 (3rd in NFC West)

Key Additions: Torrey Smith, Darnell Dockett, Philip Wheeler, Shareece Wright & Erik Pears

Key Losses: Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, Chris Borland, Mike Lupati, Frank Gore, Ray McDonald, Chris Culliver, Perrish Cox, Dan Skuta & Michael Crabtree

Regular Season Win Total: Over 7.5 Wins (+173) vs. Under 7.5 Wins (-205)

Well, we’re going to find out how well the young talent can perform on the 49ers this season, as they parted ways with a ton of veterans this off-season. I have a hard time seeing the 49ers bouncing back this season after losing so much.

In fact – I expect the 49ers will struggle worse than last season. A lot of pressure will be on Colin Kaepernick to win, but he has limited weapons outside of Smith and Boldin, unless the young WR’s can step up into a major role in 2015.

I lean to under 7.5 wins, but at these odds I wouldn’t recommend betting the 49ers regular season win total.

2015 St. Louis Ram Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 6-10 (4th in NFC West)

Key Additions: Nike Foles, Nick Fairley, Akeem Ayers, Garret Reynolds & Case Keenum

Key Losses: Kendall Langford, Sam Bradford, Joe Barksdale, Zac Stacy, Mike Person, Scott Wells & Jake Long

Regular Season Win Total: Over 8 Wins (+120) vs. Under 8 Wins (-140)

The Rams will be a totally different team in 2015 than in 2014. Foles was brought in at QB and Todd Gurley was drafted in the first round, although it’s still uncertain when Gurley will be ready to go this season due to injury rehab.

St. Louis lost quite a bit of talent on the o-line, but after drafting Gurley they focused on retooling the o-line to help protect Foles. The Rams have a lot of young and speedy WR’s, plus the defense is even better than last year.

The Rams could be the biggest surprise in the NFC West and I have them winning over 8 games.
