Mr Ringo Summary

Mr Ringo Bookmaker is now closed, but we have plenty of better alternatives for you

Another relatively new bookmaker licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority you ask? Yes indeed. Mr Ringo Bookmaker was founded in 2014. They are owned by Star World Ltd – three young entrepreneurs who wanted to offer a customer-friendly website. They claim to have a great service and very strong promotions, so let’s put those assertions to the test:

  • US Players: No
  • Site founded: 2014
  • License: Malta
  • Bonus: 100% up to €100
  • Bonus Rollover: 10x
  • Last Updated: 03/04/2017

Mr Ringo Features

  • Wide choice of sports
  • Large sign up bonus
  • Great customer service

Mr Ringo Pros

  • Good odds on niche sports
  • Deep betting markets on all sports
  • Great choice of deposit/withdrawal methods

Mr Ringo Cons

  • Mobile site could be improved

Viewing On A Desktop Or Laptop?

The website could be better. Although there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the page, it contains a lack of banners and graphics that catch the eye of bettors. A more modern text, better spacing and updated icons would definitely help. The website can be viewed in a variety of languages, namely; English, German, Swedish, Norwegian, Finish, Turkish, Russian, French and Spanish. There is the option to flick between decimal, fractional and US.

Show Me The…Bonus

Mr Ringo bookmaker gives their new customers a welcome bonus up to a maximum of €100. In order for customers to withdraw their funds, they have to wager the entire deposit and bonus at least 10 times. Therefore, a customer wishing to claim the maximum bonus of €100, would have to turn over €2000 before they could pull their money out. The minimum odds to qualify for the rollover requirements are 1.80  and customers cannot bet on more than one outcome in the same event.

Sports Markets & Odds

What does the average player look for in a bookmaker, in terms of sports? Do they want a wide variety of events to bet on, or do they want deep markets for the discipline of their choice, with many different betting opportunity for each match/game? Ideally they want both, but very few bookmakers have that. Mr Ringo do very well in the variety of events, with 27 different sports available to bettors. As with virtually all European bookmakers, football is the most populated sport, followed by basketball second and ice hockey third.

The competitiveness of odds can be determined by the total book percentage. This is converting all of the odds in an event into percentages, and adding them together. If the bookmaker were to take no margin, then the total book would compile to 100%, so the closer to 100%, the better the odds. Taking a cross section of sports from the bookmaker’s list, the following average books could be observed:

  • Boxing – 105%
  • Football 105.5%
  • Basketball – 105.7%
  • Tennis – 107%
  • Handball – 107.5%

A few interesting points can be made from the data. While the football odds sit around average for the industry, they are bettered by boxing at 105%. This is unusual as boxing odds aren’t always so competitive, and also football is usually the sport with the most margin (as it is most popular and there is generally the most complete knowledge about the sport, thus giving the bookmakers more confidence in their odds).

In addition to the competitiveness of boxing and football not being on pole position, the second observation is the relative generosity of odds on the handball markets. The average book percentages of 107.5% are better than industry standard, which sits between 109-110%.

Mr Ringo also have an impressive number of additional markets:

Basketball: 30-32
Floorball: 10-12
Handball: 20-22

These numbers matched and in some instances eclipsed established bookmakers such at Bet Victor.

Mr Ringo Bookmaker could definitely do with improving their payments protocols and charges. Imposing a 3% fee for withdrawals could really put bettors off, especially those higher staking individuals.

Restricted Countries

At present there are only officially a handful of countries that are restricted from using the Mr Ringo website. These are the United States of America and other U.S. territories, Albania, France, Poland, United Kingdom, and Greece. However, Mr Ringo also cover themselves by saying bettors from any country where gambling is illegal, or a particular license is required, such as Portugal should not sign up.

Customer Support

Customers can get hold of the Mr Ringo Bookmaker staff via an online contact us form, or alternatively (and preferably) through live chat. The latter form of communication is available 11:00 to 19:00 CET. While it would definitely be preferable to have more hours covered and for there to be a telephone number to reach staff, it is understandable with a small/medium sized bookmaker that this may not be financially viable.

Mr Ringo do advise customers to check with their extensive FAQ section before contacting a customer services representative, as the majority of questions can be answered there.

Betting On The Move

Mr Ringo have a mobile optimised website that automatically loads when visited from an iOS, Android or Windows phone. The site is functional, but there is room for improvement. The list of sports is given in full, which is a little problematic on a handheld device as each link can only reside in a small section of the screen – thus it is fairly easy to click on the wrong sport (especially if you have fat fingers!). They would be better implementing some sort of scrolling menu, so that it is easier to navigate around. While there are no specific promotions for mobile bettors, customers are able to access to same sign up bonus, all the same markets and betting opportunities are available.

Verdict

If you can accept Mr Ringo Bookmaker for what it is – a young online bookmaker with a few growing pains, then they are absolutely worth signing up with. Don’t expect live streamed events and huge limits just yet, but the base of the website is very solid – a good range of sports with industry competitive odds.
