The Website

As expected, the BetStars sports website looks slick and professionally designed. They shun the standard layout, and display the list of sports on a horizontal bar in the centre of the screen. The list of live and upcoming events can be found in the centre of the page, with promotions, banners, betting partners and the betting slip on the right hand side of the page. Users can flick between fractional, decimal and American odds easily by selecting their favoured format on the menu bar. Please note that this site is not available to Slovakian players.

Free Bets

BetStars do have a sign up bonus for new customers. It may not be as generous a figure as offered by other betting sites, but they make up for it with other regular concessions and promotions. When signing up for a BetStars account, customers can receive $/£/€20 in free bets (two $/£/€10 bets). All the new player has to do is sign up and place a $/£/€10 bet on an event with odds of 2.00  or greater. Deposits using Neteller and Skrill are exempt from this promotion to deter bonus baggers.

In addition to the generic sign up bonus, BetStars also offer bonuses on football accumulators. Are the terms harsh? Not really – all legs must have minimum odds of 1.10 , and the free bets must be used in 7 days.

How good are the odds on football you ask? Fantastic is the reply. BetStars are working to margins which put them right towards the top of the table in terms of competitiveness of odds. Their prices for international matches worked out to total book percentages of 101.5-103%. This competes with, and surpasses many established firms notorious for their strong football section, such as Bet365 and Bet Victor. The number of additional markets is decent to, with betting on Over/Unders, Total Goals, Handicap betting and more.

Early horse racing odds are reasonable but not that competitive in relation to the football prices. For a 7 runner contest, 30 minutes before the off, the total book percentage worked out to 114.6%. This equates to marginally over 2% per runner, which is around the industry standard, but definitely not market leading. Basketball odds are very strong, with books compiling to around 104%, which is impressive. The number of additional markets for the NBA is also great – nearly 100 additional bets on top of the moneyline for matches. This beats the offering of at least 90% of the other bookmakers.

Overall, the quality and depth of markets offered has to be applauded.
