Samaawy To Reward Norther Raider Johnston
12.40 Lingfield – Samaawy
Mark Johnston sends just the one runner down to Lingfield on Tuesday and his 2 year old Samaawy looks to have a very solid each-way chance, and looks overpriced at 5.00Bet €100 to win €5004/1Bet £100 to win £500+400Bet $100 to win $5004.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$5004.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp500-0.2500Bet RM100 to win RM500. The favourite Baydar is odds on and takes a big chunk out of the market and whilst he does have the best form, his odds are definitely cramped.
‘Braveheart’ Johnston regularly sends some of his better 2 year olds to Leicester to make their debut over 7 furlongs, and his son of Alhaarth went off a well fancied 4.50Bet €100 to win €4507/2Bet £100 to win £450+350Bet $100 to win $4503.50Bet HK$100 to win HK$4503.50Bet Rp100 to win Rp450-0.2857Bet RM100 to win RM450 shot. The juvenile showed good early pace and sat up with the leaders before fading into fifth, eventually beaten 3 lengths. The market strength pre-race and the horse’s early toe mark him down as a promising performer, and he can be forgiven for getting tired late in the day on debut in what were quite testing conditions.
Samaawy steps up in trip this time out and based on his pedigree, that should suit. Lingfield’s 8 furlongs is a tight, turning track and is probably similar in terms of a stamina test to Leicester’s long galloping 7 furlongs. The horse has stall 1 and is likely to bounce out and sit handy. He looks to have a bright future and should be a banker for a place and could well go one better.
2.55 Lingfield – Exentricity
Exentricity finally broke his duck last time out at the 14th time of asking, and Mick Channon’s 3 year old filly may have more to come now she has got her head in front. The drop to 6 furlongs and switch back to the all-weather seemed to do the trick and her mark remains untouched at 65.
The Paco Boy filly started her career in a hot Sandown maiden, eventually finished second, and her career looked to be on an upwards curve as she finished midfield in a Listed contest next time out before getting denied by the narrowest of margins in a Goodwood maiden. From there her career took a nose dive and despite being fairly well backed several times, she failed to deliver. She raced with zest last time out when winning by over 2 lengths at Chelmsford and could be very well handicapped based on her form as a 2 year old.
65 looks a very reasonable mark and 3 year old sprinters do well at this time of year.
