Parkes And Ride is the Value at York
3.05 York – Parkes And Ride
Parkes And Ride may have run a moderate race on debut from a figures perspective, but there was a modicum of promise in that run at Ripon, and dropped into a seller, he could well be overpriced at 9.00Bet €100 to win €9008/1Bet £100 to win £900+800Bet $100 to win $9008.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$9008.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp900-0.1250Bet RM100 to win RM900.
Not particularly fancied in the market on debut, Karl Burke’s juvenile was slowly away and ran green throughout the contest. Consented to run on late in the day, as the penny appeared to be dropping. Ripon is an undulating and sharp racecourse that can catch out inexperienced youngsters.
Karl Burke’s second time out 2 year olds probably have the best record in the game; 53/263 (20.15%) for £129.43 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.62. The flat 6f will be in his favour and both the hood and the visor have been applied to try and sharpen the son of Pivotal up.
Admittedly, there will need to be plenty of improvement forthcoming if Parkes And Ride is going to win, but the standard of the other runners is nothing special. Richard Fahey has the favourite in Pippin Street, but after that one made a promising debut on soft ground, she regressed on the faster ground, which has to be a slight worry.
At the odds, Parkes And Ride looks a good speculative each way bet.
3.15 Sandown – Von Blucher
John Gosden’s Von Blucher looks an interesting newcomer at Sandown, and could well see market support. Well bred, the odds of 6.00Bet €100 to win €6005/1Bet £100 to win £600+500Bet $100 to win $6005.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$6005.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp600-0.2000Bet RM100 to win RM600 look generous given Gosden’s record at this time of year.
Gosden has won this race before with some smart types, and he has a fantastic record with first time out 2 year old colts and fillies in June-July; 21/97 (21.65%) for £48 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.60. Has a good draw in stall 3 and Frankie Dettori is booked.
The market is headed by Jamie Osborne’s Kodiac 2 year old Inherent Vice. Debut run over 6f at Newbury was full of promise and with Osborne’s runners invariably improving a bundle for their first start, on paper he looks to have a very solid chance. With that being said, sire Kodiac tends to produce sprinters and therefore the main worry would be the step up to 7f.
There are a few other big stables who are represented by intriguing newcomers, but Gosden’s Von Blucher gets the nod.
