2.30 Ascot – Log Out Island

Richard Hannon holds an incredibly strong hand in the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot, with the short priced favourite and our selection Logout Island heading the betting. In what looks a substandard renewal of this race (bar the aforementioned horses), Hannon should really be collecting.

Log Out Island lacks the experience of the favourite, but was mightily impressive on debut at Ascot in a conditions race, winning by 4 and a half lengths, and demolishing the subsequent Coventry winner Buratino in the process (favourite King Of Rooks has also beaten the Johnston horse by a similar margin). After that race, the son of Dark Angel was purchased by Godolphin – an in indication as to the esteem he is held in.

King Of Rooks has recorded the best rating in the race, when winning The National Stakes at Sandown, and he has the benefit of having more racecourse experience than his stablemate. With that being said, the horse is by Acclamation, whose progeny tend to like good ground best. It has been riding like a road this week at Ascot, and the very fast ground may not be ideal.

At the odds of 3.75Bet €100 to win €37511/4Bet £100 to win £375+275Bet $100 to win $3752.75Bet HK$100 to win HK$3752.75Bet Rp100 to win Rp375-0.3636Bet RM100 to win RM375, an each-way bet on Log Out Island is advised. Nothing else has done anything to suggest that it can surpass either of the market leaders, and with the potential for improvement Log Out Island should be very competitive.

8.35 Leicester – Fever Few

Fever Few makes seasonal reappearance and could be a little overpriced in an open looking contest.

The 6 year old Pastoral Pursuits mare has improved since being dropped back to 6f on straight galloping courses, and she could be a little better than her mark of 75. Was a beaten favourite last time out and Wall doesn’t leave the money behind twice very often; 85/359 (23.68%) for £142.75 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.42. Furthermore, the Newmarket handler has a great record when using claiming jockeys on his older horses; 41/226 (18.14%) for £83.36 LSP, producing an A/E of 1.60

There are last time out winners in the race but Fever Few could be the fly in the ointment.
