Assuming no non-runners in the 3.15 Haydock, this 8-runner race has the perfect shape to it. There was a very impressive last time out winner in the form of Masterful Act, who makes up the market at a best price of 1/12.00+1001.001.00-1.00. Dan Skelton’s runner was a classy handicapper on the flat, and showed what he is capable of at Huntingdon, winning by 17 lengths. Shoulders a 7lb penalty, but is unexposed in the hurdling sphere. With that said, he is yet to show form on good to soft/soft ground that would win this contest and this race is stronger.
Lightentertainment looks the each way play in the race. This horse has been a significant improver over the winter, winning 5 of last 7 runs. Struggled last time out in grade 3 company, but will appreciate the drop back in trip. A feature of his running style has been a strong late finish, and the step back up to 20f should be in this one’s favour. Has been given a 39 day break and comes out top on the Racing Post’s Topspeed figure. May not have yet finished improving, and even if he hasn’t and returns to penultimate runs form, should be competitive.
