Ivawood to Do the Running at Ascot
2.30 Ascot – Ivawood
Richard Hannon has a strong hand this week at Ascot, and Ivawood appears to be one of his best chances. The classy 3 year old has run with credit in the top races this season, and will appreciate the drop in trip and grade.
Having rated as one of the top 2 year olds, the son of Zebedee disappointed on seasonal debut at Newbury. Connections blamed a lack of race fitness and suggested that the horse would come on plenty for that run. They were proved correct as he ran a very creditable third in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, and then repeated that feat in the Irish equivalent. Had tonnes of speed as a 2 year old and therefore the drop back to 7 furlongs could well yield some more improvement.
Bossy Guest is the main danger on form and official ratings, and there was not much between them at Newmarket. Has been given a break since and comes into the race fresh. Probably lacks the class of the selection, but has been admirably consistent.
9.10 Ripon – Valantino Oyster
Despite being a bit of a hit and miss performer, the odds of 9.00Bet €100 to win €9008/1Bet £100 to win £900+800Bet $100 to win $9008.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$9008.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp900-0.1250Bet RM100 to win RM900 look too attractive about Valantino Oyster, given that he may well get an easy lead.
Tracy Waggott’s 8 year old Pearl Of Love gelding has won 11/57 starts (a good strike rate for a lower grade horse), and has sometimes looked very game from the front. Is versatile ground wise and it just seems to depend whether he is in the mood or not. Goes well from the front and has the prospect of an easy lead here with no other prominent racers in the field, so should be able to dictate the fractions without too much pressure.
Tracy Waggott’s horses who are turned out within 7 days of their previous run do very well; 35/206 (16.99%) for £55.88 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.52. Valantino Oyster has himself returned to the track on 8 occasions with a week of his last run, and has record 2 victories and 2 places.
Tamayuz Magic is the favourite and looks like a progressive runner, but for one who is not proven over the 12f, the 3.25Bet €100 to win €3259/4Bet £100 to win £325+225Bet $100 to win $3252.25Bet HK$100 to win HK$3252.25Bet Rp100 to win Rp325-0.4444Bet RM100 to win RM325 seems a little skinny.
