Both Skeaping and Humphrey Bogart look to have a very solid chance in the opening maiden at Doncaster and there could be plenty of improvement in the two Richard Hannon runners.
Whilst Skeaping appears to be the stable first string based upon the market, there is cause to think that Humphrey Bogart could give him a good run for his money. The latter named ran a good race on debut at Chelmsford over 6 furlongs, keeping on steadily towards the line. Was never going to threaten the principles that day but the 7 furlongs should suit based on pedigree; sire Tagula’s 2 year old offspring racing over 7 furlongs+ are 43/299 (14.38%) for £84.69 LSP, giving an impressive A/E of 1.73.
Skeaping is likely to benefit greatly from a softer surface. The horse has run on fast ground on both starts so far and showed real ability last time out when finishing second at Salisbury. However, sire Excellent Art’s progeny invariably do better the softer the ground goes, and the forecast good ground should see this one step forward again. He is already the one to aim at on recent form, and the Hannon stable should really take this race with one of their runners.
