1.25 Newbury – Harvard Man

The 2 year old conditons race at Newbury really is a fascinating affair, with a number of promising types going to post. With that being said, the once raced, one victorious Harvard Man looks capable of teaching his rivals a lesson, and looks generously priced to do so.

Making his debut in a warm Newbury maiden, the son of Equiano burst clear 2 furlongs from home, before getting tired and perhaps running a little green, with the winning margin ending up just a short head. That run was over 5f and the step up in trip and run under his belt should be of a great benefit second time out. Trainer Brian Meehan fancies his 2 year old as Royal Ascot material, and he will have to be victorious again in order to stake his claim for one of the good races in June.

Brian Meehan 2 year olds having their second start within 1-3 months of racecourse debut, have a great record; 46/196 (23.47%) for a LSP of £46.36 and an A/E of 1.49. There is plenty of competition, with a John Gosden newcomer sporting a sexy pedigree, and an undefeated Fahey horse, but at odds of 4.33Bet €100 to win €433333/100Bet £100 to win £433+333Bet $100 to win $4333.33Bet HK$100 to win HK$4333.33Bet Rp100 to win Rp433-0.3003Bet RM100 to win RM433, Harvard Man looks a good bet.

2.30 Thirsk – Jeanie’s Place & La Asomada

Richard Fahey is the king of the 2 year old debutants over 5 furlongs, and he is represented in the 2.30 at Thirsk by Jeanie’s Place. She doesn’t have the ideal draw in stall 3, but with the yard being so prolific in these races; 60/255 (23.53%) for £129.36 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.60. She is available at a best price 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400, and is the rightful favourite in a race where the horses who have run, have not shown much.

While Fahey holds a strong hand on paper, David Barron’s runner La Asomada should also be respected, especially at odds of 10.00Bet €100 to win €10009/1Bet £100 to win £1000+900Bet $100 to win $10009.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$10009.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1000-0.1111Bet RM100 to win RM1000. She has a fair draw in 6 and David Barron’s maiden runners in March-May, 21.00Bet €100 to win €210020/1Bet £100 to win £2100+2000Bet $100 to win $210020.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$210020.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp2100-0.0500Bet RM100 to win RM2100 or shorter are 40/165 (24.24%) for a LSP of £60.91 and an A/E of 1.51.

Both runners need covering here.
