Criteria to Tick All the Right Boxes at Haydock
2.00 Haydock – Criteria
John Goden’s 4 year old filly provides the first selection of the day, and it is a bet based on prior form and a juicy price. She is clearly not a straight forward filly, but offers some each way value at 13.00Bet €100 to win €130012/1Bet £100 to win £1300+1200Bet $100 to win $130012.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$130012.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1300-0.0833Bet RM100 to win RM1300
After a fairly inauspicious start to her career, the daughter of Galileo shot up the ratings by placing in Group company twice last summer. She went off strong in the market for a number of contests, clearly indicating that she was well thought of at home. Was disappointing on seasonal reappearance at Goodwood, dropping out tamely and finishing 9th of 11, but cause to think that run can be built upon. Why? For one, it was her first run back of the year. Secondly, she wears the cheekpieces this time which may assist concentration, and thirdly, John Gosden has a great record with his 4 year old females who continue to race – 50/215 (23/26%) for £127.76 LSP and an A/E of 1.40.
Talmada is a rightful favourite having shown a progressive profile and ability this season, but the odds of about 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400 look right for that one.
4.40 York – Dreamlike
Luca Cumani is a wily old fox, and his unexposed 3 year old filly Dreamlike could be well handicapped off a mark of 80 for her seasonal reappearance.
Won last start on the all-weather over 8f in December, and the form of that race has been boosted with the second placed horse since winning races and obtaining an official mark of 90. By a Rainbow Quest mare, it is very likely that Dreamlike will appreciate the extra yardage and she should be better as she gets older. Adam Kirby who rode the horse last time out also commented he liked her attitude – especially important when it comes to the females.
Cumani 3 year old handicappers returning on the back of a 120+ day absence have a very good record; 20/81 (24.69%) for £42.50 LSP and an A/E of 1.61. Promising young rider Kevin Stott takes off a valuable 3lbs and the filly looks all set for a big run.
Tazffin from the Varian yard looks the chief market rival having won more comfortably than the narrow margin suggested last time out, and she too will appreciate the step up in trip.
