Calm Attitude to Show No Nerves at Nottingham
7.40 Nottingham – Calm Attitude
In this four runner race, each horse has its positives and negatives. At odds of 5.00Bet €100 to win €5004/1Bet £100 to win £500+400Bet $100 to win $5004.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$5004.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp500-0.2500Bet RM100 to win RM500, Calm Attitude appeals for a number of reasons. Rae Guest’s 5 year old Dutch Art mare ran as if she needed the run on seasonal reappearance, and could well improve plenty for that first start back.
An improving filly last year despite only winning once, Calm Attitude showed her best form on ground with cut in it. Went off joint favourite for reappearance at Brighton, but didn’t seem to handle the track very well and weakened as if she was lacking race fitness. Rae Guest is a wily operator, and his runners off for 4-8 weeks do very well when they are fancied in the betting (11.00Bet €100 to win €110010/1Bet £100 to win £1100+1000Bet $100 to win $110010.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$110010.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp1100-0.1000Bet RM100 to win RM1100 or shorter); 39/146 (26.71%) for £57.27 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.50.
All four of her wins have come in single digit fields, and the longer home straight should help. The favourite is Hanno, a last time out winner from the Ed Dunlop stable. Well weighted, this horse clearly has ability, but also some quirks, as it took him until the 12th attempt to get off the mark. Showed a tendency to hang that day and it will be interesting to see if he knuckles down over the extra yardage if forced to battle.
All things considered, Calm Attitude could well bounce back to her form of last season and rates a fair bet at 5.00Bet €100 to win €5004/1Bet £100 to win £500+400Bet $100 to win $5004.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$5004.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp500-0.2500Bet RM100 to win RM500
8.50 Windsor – Manolito
Manolito could well be a handicap blot and is sure to be strong in the market for the team of Hughie Morrison and Richard Hughes. A four time raced 3 year old son of High Chaparral, there should be more to come this year.
Ran over 6/7 furlongs at 2, but pedigree suggest that the horse should really thrive with age and with the increased distance he tackles today. Admittedly there are a number of unexposed performers in the race, but Morrison’s runner looks the best handicapped on what he has done on the racecourse last year.
Hughie Morrison handicap returners do extremely well – those horses off for 150+ days returning to handicap company are 52/306 (16.99%) for £151.78 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.55. Comes out of stall 3 which is handy over this trip and a big run is expected.
