Brother Tiger to Roar to Victory at Lingfield
2.00 Lingfield – Brother Tiger
David C Griffiths has a classy sprinter in the form of Brother Tiger. By Singspiel, the 6 year old gelding is not really bred to be effective over short distances, but he has defied his pedigree, showing great speed. Very effective on the all-weather, the horse should be able to build on his 2nd place finish in Class 2 company at Chelmsford last time out, and at odds of 4.00Bet €100 to win €4003/1Bet £100 to win £400+300Bet $100 to win $4003.00Bet HK$100 to win HK$4003.00Bet Rp100 to win Rp400-0.3333Bet RM100 to win RM400, he represents very solid value.
After making a solid start to his career, Brother Tiger really improved last winter as a 5 year old. The horse has a real liking for the artificial surface, and the horse is 4/9 with a further 2 places on the all-weather. Is not quite so effective on turf (just 1/8), and from stall 2 here, the horse should be able to sit very handy and track the leaders before striking late in the day. The run last time out at Chelmsford really needs marking up, as Brother Tiger stumbled leaving the stalls and was instantly on the back foot. That was a £29k handicap and was as good, if not a better race than this. With a good draw and an in form profile, Brother Tiger looks a very solid bet.
The favourite is the Alan Bailey trained Go Far. The horse is a very classy operator, but has generally been campaigned over 6/7 furlongs and this minimum distance round a sharp trip could find him wanting for toe.
4.05 Kempton – Quantam Dot
Quantam Dot was a winning selection for Sports Betting Online last time out, and he has an excellent chance of following up off a 6lb higher mark. Drawn stall 5, he is likely to blast out and try and make all again.
After starting his career fairly promisingly, obtaining a mark of 71, the horse regressed significantly and dropped all the way down the handicap to the basement mark of 45. Won of 45 in February over course and distance, and after having a comeback run at Wolverhampton in October, he then won last time out again at Kempton over tonight’s trip. Was sent off a 5.0 favourite that day and never saw a rival, winning by just under 2 lengths.
Roy’s Legacy is another all-weather regular sprinters who was once rated higher than his current mark. Is likely to be chasing the selection round, but at the odds, Quantam Dot represents the value.
