Bright Approach to Shine at Sandown

3.55 Sandown – Bright Approach

John Gosden’s 4 year old filly Bright Approach started her career in really promising fashion last term, winning a red hot maiden at Newbury that has thrown up several classy winners. She didn’t go forward from that run but has had excuses on both starts since and it is interesting that the yard are keeping her racing this year.

After winning a maiden over 10f at Newbury, she went for the Cheshire Oaks and finished a creditable third without looking anything special. Was found to have been in season and then she failed to stay next time out at Ascot. Lots of horses underperform at the Berkshire track, so she can be forgiven that effort.

Further encouragement can be gleaned from Gosden’s record with 4 year old females. When he keeps these fillies on instead of sending them off for breeding purposes, they have a very impressive record; 50/218 (22.94%) for £124.76 LSP, giving an A/E of 1.39

The favourite comes in the form of Provenance who recorded a very solid form figure when finishing 5th last time out. Sir Michael Stoute’s filly has been very consistent but is a much shorter price than Bright Approach and she is more exposed. non runner
