A Good Chance for Goldslinger in Chepstow

July 24, 2015

8.55 Chepstow – Goldslinger

Goldslinger was ultra-impressive when winning last time out at Bath, and there is a good chance that he can follow up off just a 5lb higher mark.

The son of Gold Away showed very little in first 3 starts over 5-7 furlongs and obtained a very low mark of 46 (unsurprising since he is bred for much further). When stepped up in trip at Lingfield to 10 furlongs, he showed a modicum of promise, and that encouragement was built upon next time out when stepped up further to 11.5 furlongs at Bath. Was sent to the front that day and never saw another rival, and won in the manner of a horse who has plenty more to come at the trip.

3 year old runners do well against their elders over staying trips at this time of year. Dean Ivory does particularly well with 3 year olds in all age handicaps; 20/136 (14.71%) for £72.50 LSP, A/E 1.71, and this contest looks weak.

The favourite is the hat trick seeking Who’sthedaddy, who has racked up two very facile wins in better company than this. He races off a mark of 69 and although there could well be more to come, the son of Avonbridge has to give the selection Goldslinger 19lbs in weight.
