Blues and Goddess to Score in Big Game for Both Teams

Atalanta and Empoli are in battles for Europe and survival in Serie A.

Italian Serie A coupons do not get more difficult to eke out punting value than this season’s penultimate card and one thinks that backing both teams to score in Sunday’s game between Empoli and Atalanta rates as the best bet.

Empoli is one of three sides that may accompany Pescara and Palermo out of Italian Serie A so the Blues have plenty for which to play and they have shown in recent weeks with away wins over Fiorentina and Milan that they can turn it on.

Atalanta is fifth on the Italian Serie A ladder and it has qualified for the UEFA Europa League but the Goddess needs one more point to ensure that Milan cannot overhaul them. Italian Serie A’s fifth place is more valuable than sixth because the former gets into the UEFA Europa League group stage whereas the latter has to win a qualifying tie.

December’s reverse Italian Serie A fixture between Empoli and Atalanta resulted in a 2-1 home victory for the Goddess and both sides have not featured in a match with a clean sheet for some time. Both teams have scored in each of Empoli’s last six Italian Serie A games and the same statistic applies to Atalanta. Several bookmakers, including 32Red, 888Sport and Unibet, are offering odds of -156  about neither Empoli nor Atalanta shutting out its opponent this weekend and that strikes one as a fairly decent wager.

Another Italian Serie A game in which one does not expect to witness a clean sheet is Sunday’s match between Sassuolo and Cagliari. Sassuolo and Cagliari have been two of the most carefree Italian Serie A sides this term and, with neither team able to escape mid-ladder mediocrity, one thinks that they are likely to play with fear, much like they did when the Black and Greens lost 3-4 at the Red and Blues in the reverse fixture that took place five months ago.

Both teams have rustled the onion bag in each of Sassuolo’s last eight Italian Serie A games and the Black and Greens are on a five-match run of scoring at least two goals. Both sides have hit the back of the net in five of Cagliari’s last seven Italian Serie A games and the Red and Blues are the division’s highest scorers on the ladder’s bottom half.

188Bet is quoting odds of -192  about both Sassuolo and Cagliari scoring in their latest Italian Serie A clash and every neutral who takes a punt on one’s selection will be hoping for a repeat of their December match when bookmakers were paying out before 30 minutes had elapsed on the clock.

Even if Roma and Napoli win their respective Italian Serie A games on Saturday, Juventus will clinch the title if it gets the better of relegation-threatened Crotone on Sunday.

One is not going to get rich backing Juventus on its own but the Old Lady are worth throwing into multiples at odds of -500  with William Hill. According to one’s Italian Serie A collateral form analysis, Juventus enjoys an 18-1-0 edge over Crotone that would be a perfect 19-0-0 if it was not for the results of matches involving Udinese.

Crotone is unbeaten in its last seven Italian Serie A games but the home numbers of Juventus are even more impressive and it is unthinkable that the Old Lady, which is trying to land the league, cup and UEFA Champions League treble, will come a cropper versus a team likely to experience the drop.
