MNF Week 3 Packers Versus Seahwaks Preview

September 24, 2012

Monday Night Football Week #3 Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks +3 September 24th at 8:30 EST

The NFC is on full showcase this Monday Night, as the Packers take on the Seahawks at Qwest Field. Both teams come in with a 1-1 record, seeking their second win.

The Packers lost Week 1 to a tough San Francisco team, but came back with a vengeance last Thursday Night, as they pounded the Chicago Bears 23-10. The Packers have not amassed the massive numbers in the passing game quite yet, but they’ve faced two above average pass defenses so far – so it’s too early to judge Rodgers and company yet. Pro Bowl wide out Greg Jennings has also been sidelined and may return this week from a groin injury.

The Seahawks suffered a defeat in Week 1 to the Arizona Cardinals, but shocked the football world when they decimated the Cowboys last week, 27-7. Rookie QB Russell Wilson was efficient going 15-20 with a TD, and Marshawn Lynch had 122 yards rushing and a TD of his own. The Seahawks manhandled the Cowboys defensively, as they could get nothing going in the passing attack and finished with just 45 rushing yards.

The Line

After a Seattle +6 open for some shops, this one has come down the +3 number almost everywhere. The total has had a sizeable move from 47.5 all the way down to 44.5.

The Play

This one is a difficult one to predict, as the NFL has been extremely unpredictable this season. The Seahawks are clearly no joke – no one doubts their abilities after their trouncing of Dallas last week and Qwest Field is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Still, it’s hard to bet against the Packers on 11 days rest, and a number of only 3 points. This one could come down to a field goal, but we’ll have to take the Packers and lay the points.
