Godybet Bookmaker Review

Not Approved by SBO.net

Godybet Summary

Gobybet was set up in 2016 and is now established as a solid, reliable place to bet. It’s aimed initially at Italian punters and defaults to the Italian language.

In addition to sports betting – the bit that we’re interested in – they also offer betting on live sports, a traditional online casino, a live casino and some virtual betting.

  • A nicely designed and attractive betting site
  • Plenty of varied and interesting betting markets
  • Some top soccer betting on offer

Bonuses? What Bonuses?

The header says it all. As far as bonuses of any kind go, Godybet don’t advertise any. Not one. Zero. Zilch. Nada. All of which is a big disappointment for a site that, on the face of it has lots of promise.

We contacted their customer services in case there was some offers that we had missed but they confirmed that at the moment there are no bonuses or promotions of any kind on offer. We’ll leave it there.

Attractive but Familiar Design

The lack of bonuses however shouldn’t detract from the fact that Godybet is a good-looking site, and behind those good looks is a fair bit of quality. When you head to Godybet, the homepage is colourful, ‘cartooney’ and is headed up by two large rotating ads – one that gives you a heads up on the prominence it places on football and the other for its casino.

The sports betting is what we’re interested in, so a click on ‘Sports’ takes us through to something that, for regular punters, looks familiar and is also pleasing on the eye. Not too garish, not too crowded but, in terms of tone, about right. Godybet run with the traditional three-column layout and have done a nice job in utilising the space.

Typically, the left sidebar is used to list the sports on offer, with the numbers of events and markets available being indicated against each. We’ll come onto the number and variety of sports later – suffice to say it’s fine – but it’s a very well-designed column that defaults to a sport-by-sport listing, which then drills down to another one or two levels, depending on the sport.

To use football as the obvious example, if you click on the football icon, a list opens – still within the sidebar – which is predominantly based on countries and continents but at the top are listed four ‘specials’ (goalscorers etc) along with some options for international teams and international football. The specials are, as you would expect, a range of fun bets but if you click on a country (or continent) you open a sub-menu that lists the leagues (or divisions) available for betting in your chosen category. Only when you’ve drilled down to the bottom level does it fill the main body of the page with all the betting data you need.

Before we examine what betting information they provide, it’s worth noting there is a very nifty way of narrowing down the date of the event you wish to bet on. At the top of the left sidebar is a gauge that allows you to choose the day of the week and also, if betting on same-day events, whether the start time is within one, three, six, nine or twelve hours.

Once a league and a date/time has been selected, a single click opens up the main body of the page with all the betting information you would expect from a quality sports betting site for the games on that day. It’s presented in the form of a list with fixtures detailed on a line-by-line basis.

Each fixture is offered in a single line with some standard information and bets – date of fixture, the three-way bet, double chance, draw no bet and over under 2.5 goals – with a number at the end of the line that, if clicked upon, lists all of the different bets and markets available. The odds are offered in decimal form. On that same line is a stats icon, which takes the customer to a page provided by Sportradar, which offers statistics galore relating to that fixture.

For live games, they offer their customers a single line of odds with, unusually, no stats or graphics to support the in-game action – a rarity these days on sports betting sites. While to expect a live stream is maybe a little much, most fill this void with a match tracker of some description. It’s no biggie but will deter those for whom live games are their go-to form of betting.

The main body of the page defaults to listings of football fixtures, with what they deem the big game of the day being offered pride of place at the top of the page with a colourful array of graphics and stats. It is followed by a listing of ‘last minute’ games, which generally means fixtures that are due to kick off within the hour.

The right-hand column follows the traditional betting norm, with the betting slip at the top, and this is followed by a listing of ‘Latest Results’, showing the final scores and starting prices of games that have recently finished.

All in all, we think the layout is a good one and, more importantly, the functionality works perfectly.

A Good Range, Not a Great One, but Still Footie Markets Aplenty

Godybet offer a good range of sports while avoiding trying to encompass every sport played by mankind, as some of their competitors do. Instead, they have carefully selected a range that enables them to offer a wide variety and depth of bets. In total, at the time of the review, they were offering fourteen sports:

Soccer, Tennis, Hockey, Baseball, Football, Handball, Boxing, UFC, Cycling, Motor Sports

Within those selected fourteen sports they go deep and offer their customers excellent coverage, covering all the big competitions that you would expect, but also low-level events that most fans will be unaware of until they appear as a betting option. To use football as the obvious example, they cover the biggest and best leagues – UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, Spanish Primera Division, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, Italian Serie A etc – but also many of the lesser known leagues in, for example, Latvia, Lithuania, Algeria and Finland.

They also offer some quality coverage of the big American Sports – the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL – and go big on the world’s top tennis competitions – US Open, Wimbledon, French Open, WTA tour etc – with some in-depth coverage of basketball and ice hockey beyond the big American leagues and, unsurprisingly for an Italian site, they go very big on rugby union.

While we were unimpressed with Godybet’s lack of bonuses and promotions, it’s hard not to be impressed with the value of the odds they offer! With the industry standard being generally recognised as odds compiled between 105% and 106%, the fact they mostly hovered just over the 104% mark is excellent and is genuinely up there with the best on offer on the web.

You like Betting on the Go? That’s Handy

As you would expect, Godybet is a fully optimized mobile site and so if you prefer betting on the go – either on a smartphone or a tablet – you will find an excellent configuration that displays all the same information as the desktop site, and which translates nicely too. It works equally well for both iOS and Android and offers a good betting experience in terms of navigation, responsiveness and presentation. There are no apps available but given that the mobile optimization works very nicely this in not a major problem. They also can be accessed via Facebook and Twitter.

Depositing? Withdrawing? – It’s Easy with Godybet

Cash-out is an automated process on Godybet. In the normal scheme of things, they operate at the acceptable end of the scale – pay-outs generally being processed within 24 hours. At the time of this review, there were no online negative reviews regarding Godybet payouts, which is always a healthy sign.

Italian Through and Through but Open to All

The site is aimed at the Italian market and therefore has Italian as its base language, but it has a ‘toggle’ for English and translates very nicely indeed.  It uses Euro as its base currency and, of course, defaults to Euro when depositing funds through PayPal.

Better still, there are no restricted countries from Godybet’s perspective. Their customer services team confirmed that if you can access the site and provide all of the information required to set up an account then you can bet on the site, and that includes punters from the US and UK.

Safe and Secure. Always a Good Sign

A good gauge of a site’s reliability and security is a quick online search and so it’s a very positive sign that there was no negativity to be found at all.

We’re also happy to report that our engagement with their customer services team was excellent. The live chat facility was very good, and they answered all of our queries efficiently, succinctly and with the minimum of fuss. There is also an email address (info@bluebird-nv.com) where customers can send any questions or queries.

Unlike some of their competitors, Godybet do take their responsible gambling duties seriously and devote a section at the foot of the site to this very subject. Here they stress how they want their customers to have fun with their betting but not to do so beyond their means, while highlighting the dangers of losing track of the financial implications.

They encourage the use of self-imposed gambling limits, which they are happy to help enforce, and ask that customers who believe they are showing signs of having a problem to contact their customer services team at the earliest possible opportunity

Our Verdict

Although we were clearly disappointed with the lack of bonuses and promotions on offer, we were delighted to discover the excellent value available on Godybet, which was there for literally every market that we tested. It’s hard to overestimate quite how impressive odds that compile to around 104% really are, and in truth on this score it blows away virtually all of their competitors.

In addition, the site itself is a good one, with a design that’s pleasing on the eye and functionality that works nicely and which gets the job done.

Godybet is certainly worth a look but for much better bookmakers, check out our most recommended sites below.
