NFL Super Bowl 50 Futures Betting Odds

August 3, 2015

The 2015/16 NFL season will be starting before we know it. Super Bowl futures odds have been out since the Patriots defeated the Seahawks in last season’s Super Bowl and we’re going to provide an update and analysis of the market.

Super Bowl 50 will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on February 7th 2016.

However, futures are bets you place before the season traditionally. You can bet on NFL Super Bowl futures during the season as well, but the odds aren’t nearly as good. In fact – the best time to bet on futures is in the summer.

Most teams still have question marks, but if you’re capable of filling in the blanks, you’ll have a good idea of which teams have the personnel to contend. Let’s get right into the discussion and look at the teams atop of the betting market.

Top Contenders to Win the 2016 NFL Super Bowl

  • Seattle Seahawks +465 (Best Odds: Bovada)

Seattle opened up at 11/2 to win the Super Bowl, but have drifted a bit. The Seahawks defense is going to be great and will have to carry this team, along with Marshawn Lynch. This team still needs to add a WR to the mix.

Sure, they now have Jimmy Graham, but even Graham didn’t look himself last season. They were one play away from a Super Bowl ring in 2015, but I don’t believe the Seahawks are going to make it past the NFC Championship Game.

  • Green Bay Packers +565 (Best Odds: 5Dimes)

I’m convinced the Green Bay Packers will win Super Bowl 50, but they’ll have to get past the Seahawks in the playoffs without breaking down completely. The #1 offense in the NFL from last year returns in tact for another run.

Rodgers, Lacy, Nelson, Cobb and Adams are all back and ready to roll. The defense has question marks and GB didn’t have a solid draft, but they didn’t need one to be elite this season. Green Bay also benefits from a weak division.

  • New England Patriots +1000 (Best Odds: 5Dimes)

Everyone in Massachusetts must still be betting on the Patriots, as there odds should be higher. The Patriots are going to be without Tom Brady to begin the season and I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover if they start disastrously.

I’m not sure the defense will be able to hold up now that several key players have departed, including Revis. They didn’t land the targets they required and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Patriots miss out on the NFL playoffs completely.

  • Indianapolis Colts +1000 (Best Odds: 5Dimes)

The Indianapolis Colts should be favored in the AFC this season. Andrew Luck has continually gotten better and he should be a dominant force in 2015. He now has even more weapons at WR now that Andre Johnson is in town.

Frank Gore will improve the run game as well. This offense should compete with the Packers for tops in the league. Just like GB – the Colts don’t have a great defense and they’ll need to rely on outscoring a lot of opponents.

  • Denver Broncos +1500 (Best Odds: 5Dimes)

Here’s another overvalued team, just like the Patriots. Denver are good and have a lot of talent, but those players are for the most part are fairly old by NFL standards. Peyton Manning will need to be much more effective than he was last year.

Can players like Miller and Ware stay healthy on defense? Those are all important questions. The AFC isn’t too tough, but the Broncos aren’t at the top anymore. They’re also weaker at TE, but I don’t think losing Thomas will hurt too much.

Who Can Dethrone the Super Bowl Top Contenders?

This is going to be a great season of football and a number of teams could end up winning the NFL Super Bowl.

In the NFC – you have the Dallas Cowboys +1850 (Best Odds: TopBet). The Cowboys lose Murray and without him running through opponents, the Cowboys are likely to struggle again. Romo seems to always choke under pressure.

There really aren’t too many great teams in the NFC. A team on the rise, though, are the Arizona Cardinals +3000 (TopBet) in the NFC West. I believe they can sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard, but will be promptly eliminated.

Give the Cardinals a couple more years and they may be back in the NFL Super Bowl.

In the AFC a number of teams are expected to be better, including the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.

However, the team to watch in my opinion are the Pittsburgh Steelers +3000 (Best Odds: TopBet) in the AFC. Baltimore are getting a ton of love as well, but they’re lacking in way to many areas to win a NFL Super Bowl.
