NairaBet Sports Review

NairaBet Sports Summary

In Nigeria, when it comes to betting, NairaBet sports are the firm to use. They are the oldest bookmaker and casino in the country and have been operating since 2009. NairaBet holds a license with the Lagos State Lotteries Board and interestingly, the company was founded by a Nigerian politician (and philanthropist) who goes by the name of Akin Alabi.

Alabi appears to have his fingers in many pies across a variety of industries and pursued the idea of developing a bookmaker when he witnessed the increased interest in wagering on football and other events in his home country.

There are not too many legitimate bookmakers who were founded and operate out of Africa, so NairaBet sports have the opportunity to be the pioneer for their continent. How do their services match up when compared with other bookmakers around the world? Are they reliable and legitimate and how competitive are the odds? In this review, we answer all of these questions and more.

Website

At first glance, the site looks well put together. NairaBet hasn’t tried to reinvent the wheel and has adopted the common three column approach. The list of different sports can be found down the left-hand side. The center of the page is populated at the top by sliding graphics giving information on the services offered by NairaBet. Below are the top bets and odds for in-play games and on the right-hand side of the page, customers can find their bet slip as well as see graphics displaying promotions and concessions. NairaBet sports keep the Nigerian theme by utilizing a green and white color scheme (with a smattering of red and grey thrown in for good measure).

There are several nice aspects to the bookmaker which make it user-friendly. Located on the left-hand side of the page is a search bar so that bettors can access their desired markets immediately. Furthermore, NairaBet sports offer a bet suggestion tool, so if a customer does not know exactly what they want to bet on, but know how much they want to stake and get back in return, they can input the information and see a list of matching bets.

When selecting a sport on the left-hand side of the page, most commonly a dropdown list will appear with a list of different countries where that sport is being played. Once selected, the different games will pop up in the center of the screen. The odds can be viewed in decimalfractional or American format and this can be adjusted using the dropdown list at the top left corner of the screen.

Bonuses And Promotions

Although they don’t have a typical sign-up bonus, NairaBet sports offer a variety of ad hoc bonuses and promotions to attract and retain clientele. There are concessions such as double odds on lucky 15’s etc., 10% bonus on accumulators and money back on goalless games. These bonuses change regularly but are kept fresh and enticing.

Bettors can also take advantage of a 10% matched deposit bonus up to N50,000 every Monday. Simply make a deposit between 9 am and 9 pm on a Monday, and NairaBet will credit your account with an additional 10% in bonus funds within 24 hours. (Terms and conditions apply).

NairaBet Sports & Markets

NairaBet offers their clients a total of 18 different sports to bet on. Of course, all of the major sports such as football, basketball, tennis, and NFL have matches and games priced up, but there are also odds for less mainstream events such as handball, futsal, bandy, and badminton.

Football is the most popular sport in the world and it is also the most popular sport for bettors to wager on. NairaBet sports has odds from a wide variety of countries and leagues around the world. Naturally, all of the elite competitions are priced up, but customers can also see odds on games from more obscure countries such as Bahrain, Finland, Kenya, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.

The odds for the top leagues are very competitive when comparing NairaBet sports with other bookmakers from around the world. The 1X2 odds in the English Premier League compile to total book percentages of 102.5-103.5%, which is very decent. The English Premier League is usually the competition where the margins are the smallest due to the exposure and money in the league, but the odds in the less-covered countries are still reasonable, with the 1X2 working out to 105.5-106.5% in most instances.

In addition to the 1X2 bet type, NairaBet offers a significant number of additional bet types for customers to get their teeth stuck into. There are odds for correct score, over/under, winning margins, handicaps, Asian handicaps and more. The depth of markets is actually very impressive.

In terms of depth of coverage, the offering for other sports is also to be applauded. Take basketball for example; customers can bet on games from 23 different countries around the world – a huge number. As expected, the USA is listed as the top country, and there are a plethora of different betting opportunities, with a dearth of different over/under options, handicaps, total points etc. The moneyline odds compile to around 105-105.5% which is solid and in line with most established firms in the industry.

The competitive odds and a decent number of additional markets is a theme that runs throughout NairaBet’s bookmaker and they have to be commended for this.

Restricted Countries

At present, when signing up for an account with NairaBet sports, customers must have a permanent address in Nigeria. Therefore, players from all other countries around the world are not currently able to register for an account.

Payment Methods

There are a variety of different payment methods that can be used at NairaBet:

  • Bank deposit
  • Pay agents
  • Credit/debit card
  • Pay at ATM
  • BANKIT by eTranzact
  • Quickteller

The minimum payout is 1000 NGN and one request can be made per day. Payments are made directly into bank accounts, so customers need to upload their account number in order to receive their winnings.

Customer Support

NairaBet sports have done a fantastic job of creating a comprehensive and diligent customer services team and they have all bases covered.

Firstly, staff can be reached by the telephone. The local call center is manned 24/7 and the number is 0-700-624-722-38 (0700 NAIRABET). Customers can also reach NairaBet via e-mail (support@nairabet.com), live chat, or if they want to go old school, by post at the following address:

Suite A1, De Cherub Mall Plaza,
KM 18, Lekki-Epe Expressway,
Alpha Beach Junction,
Lekki, Lagos,
Nigeria

The team at NairaBet have done a solid job of ensuring they have an active social media presence, and they can be followed on all of the major platforms:

Twitter – @Nairabet
Facebook – @nairabetonline
Instagram – @officialnairabet

Customers are able to ask questions and interact with staff on both the Twitter and Facebook platforms (usually receive a response within 24 hours) but Instagram is just for pictures and videos.

Mobile

NairaBet is equipped for the modern bettor and offers a mobile betting site for customers who want to access the bookmaker while on the move. When accessing the NairaBet site from a handheld device, clients can load the mobile-Lite or mobile-full version.

The full version of the site is intuitive and well designed. The list of sports, live events, virtual racing, casino and bet code can be viewed at the top of the screen on a menu bar and the list of sports populates the center of the page. Moving around the site is easy to do and NairaBet sports even manage to squeeze in some flashy banners and graphics which display well on the phone. The Lite version of the mobile website does away with the graphics and icons to improve the speed of loading, and although it is just basic with text links, the functionality is great.

NairaBet Sports Verdict

NairaBet has made a cracking start to life as an online bookmaker. They have clearly observed successful established firms and have focused on making all aspects of their service professional and competitive. Recommended.
