Genting Bet Sports Cons

  • No US sports

Genting Bet sports is now part of Genting Casino, which itself is a thriving part of the international Genting group of companies; a group regarded as a worldwide success, with interest all around the globe. The Genting Group is one of Malaysia’s largest corporations – a multi-award-winning company with a market value of more than $33billion, 4,500 hectares of prime resort land and more than 35,000 employees across the globe.

Genting Bet sports is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and has earned a reputation for being reliable, solid and trustworthy.

The site’s front face is predominantly aimed at those wishing to play casino games but sitting neatly behind the live casinos are all the goodies you would expect from a quality gambling site, including jackpot, roulette, poker and, of course, sports betting.

Website

Once you’ve skipped past the site’s home page and headed in the direction of sports betting you’re greeted with a page that, for the seasoned bettor, is familiar. It follows what has become the industry standard with two sidebars and a body that takes the punter – via a couple of headline banner ads – initially to the live betting options of the day and then to the upcoming matches and races.

The page – and website in general – utilizes a red, black, grey and white theme and is pleasing to the eye. It’s neatly presented in a simple but more-than-adequate font and generally has a nice feel. The site is easy to navigate, responsive and intuitive. It relies on being solid rather than flashy and it works, helped in no small part by the software being provided by FSB Technology – a reputable sport betting solutions provider.

The live betting does what it says on the tin – as you would expect – with up to the second odds; each line just a double-click away from making a bet [the first to click on the odds, the second to add the stake].

Below the wide variety of live bets – arranged sport-by-sport – are the ‘Upcoming Races’, which gives a detailed breakdown of the runners and riders of the next race of the day. And then it moves onto upcoming events; those later that same day and in the days that follow.

The left sidebar offers, first of all, some ‘Quick Links’ to current matches and ongoing events, including In-Play betting and upcoming horse races, and is followed by a section of ‘Football Coupons’ – a series of selected bets from various competitions.

Finally, in standard fashion, the left sidebar is completed with an exhaustive A-Z list of sports for which Genting Bet sports offers betting markets – 25 at the time of this review plus an extra one for ‘Specials’, such as BAFTAs and the Oscars – and a useful toggle at the bottom that gives the punter the chance of having the odds presented in fractional or decimal format.

The right-hand sidebar is again based on the industry standard, with its key feature being the betting slip. It’s followed by some specific sports ads and some in-house casino ad links; nothing too garish and nicely in keeping with the site’s ongoing theme.

One thing missing, but which is no biggie given the level of detail and information on offer, is a live stream feature. A minor gripe, however, and one that doesn’t detract from the quality of the Genting Bet sports site.

Bonuses

Genting Bet sports bonus for first-time customers is a good one – a £10, where if a new punter places a bet of £/€10 or more (at odds of evens [2.00] or greater) and it doesn’t win, then they will be credited with the £/€10 within 24 hours for a free bet.

The free bet must be used in full within 14 days on a selection with odds no greater than 5.00 . Any returns from that free bet will be paid back into the bettor’s account minus the free bet stake.

Significant terms and conditions: £10 First Bet Insurance: New customers only.  Offer is valid until 23:59 on 31/12/18. A qualifying bet is a losing first settled real money single bet of at least £/€10 or more (at odds of evens (2.0) or greater (or a multiple where each selection is at odds of 2/5 (1.4) or more. Only losing win single part of an E/W bet will qualify. free bet credited within 24 hours of qualifying bet settling and must be used within 14 days. free bet stake not included in returns. (T&C Apply).

Interestingly, while not strictly a bonus, Genting Bet sports also offer “Best Odds Guaranteed” on every single UK and Irish race meeting – each day from 12:00 pm till 9:30 pm. This means if you take a price on a horse and your selection wins or places at a bigger starting price, they guarantee to pay out at the bigger odds.

Sports Markets & Odds

The number of sports on offer, as mentioned earlier, is more than adequate – 25, with all of the popular sports amongst British bettors included. There is a full complement of UK and Irish horse racing and greyhounds. As you would expect, football is the most popular betting event, and Irish sports fans are also catered for, with GAA Football and GAA Hurling present on the list of events.

In terms of odds, at the time of this review the weekend’s top-level programme compiled to an average of 104.5% (the closer to 100%, the more competitive). Market leaders such as Bet365 and Bet Victor work to 102.5 – 103% – the majority of firms sitting in the 105-106% region – so Genting Bet sports are well placed compared to their competitors. The number of additional markets on football matches is also comparable to the major players.

For horse racing, most of the established online bookies will compile their early books to 110 – 115% (depending on the size of the fields) and at the time of this review, Genting Bet sports’ average was coming in at the 114% – so perfectly reasonable. And let’s not forget their promise of ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ on all of their UK and Irish horse racing.

Common sense dictates that the odds for the less mainstream sports will be further in the bookmakers’ favour, as there is less information available and fewer experts who can provide reliable insight. On that premise, with handball matches working out to around 109.3% that’s not unreasonable, with volleyball being even more competitive, compiling to 108%.

Restricted Countries

Although Genting Bet sports’ primary focus is on the UK and Irish markets, sign-ups are accepted from citizens of some other countries. However, in line with the legislation and restrictions imposed on bettors in certain countries, there is a long list of geographic restrictions on sign-ups:

Afghanistan, Algeria, American Samoa, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Cook Islands, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, France, French Polynesia, FYR Macedonia, Germany, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guam, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lao, Libya, Macau, Malaysia, Monaco, Montenegro, Myanmar, The Netherlands, Aruba, Curacao, and Sint Maarten (Kingdom of the Netherlands), Saba, Sint Eustasius and Bonaire (Dutch territory), Nauru, Northern Mariana Islands, North-Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, United States of America, US Virgin Islands, Uzbekistan, Wallis and Futuna Islands, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

Languages / Customer Support

Genting Bet sports offers an excellent 24/7 customer support service for their clients. All the details can be found by clicking on the ‘Customer Support’ tab, in the bottom right-hand corner of which is a very good live chat function. Alternatively, customers can e-mail support@gentingcasino.com or if, they chose, can speak directly to a customer services representative by requesting a callback. Even an old-fashioned face-to-face service is on offer for the simpler queries, by popping into a Genting Casino.

Mobile & Tablet

Genting Bet sports has a mobile-optimized site and follows the same colour scheme as the main desktop site. It configures perfectly for phones and tablets on iOS and Android, is easy for customers to navigate around and is very responsive. There is now also an iOS app for Apple users who like to bet on the go.

Payouts

Cash-out is an automated process on Genting Bet sports and so this is generally at the speedy end of the scale, with payouts usually processed within 24 hours.

Final Verdict

Genting Bet sports have made a very successful transition from casinos to online sports betting. They have used their experience of the betting industry and the requirements of bettors to mould together a very nice site that’s intuitive and pleasing on the eye; the key component being that it makes it very easy to place a bet!

The lack of a live stream facility is a minor gripe but there is enough elsewhere on the site to more than compensate, and it generally makes for a very pleasant betting experience.

The odds are competitive and there is good value to be found, particularly from markets around the lower profile sports.

All in all, Genting Bet sports is an established, sound betting company who have seamlessly entered the bookmaker arena and who now offer their customers a quality sports betting package.
